Carol Reifsteck has over 22 years of professional print design experience. Two years before her graduation from Iowa State University in 1986 (BFA in graphic design), Carol began her professional experience as a layout artist, working for a small print shop in Ames, Iowa. Back then, customer jobs were produced using traditional techniques, including shooting PMT's, doing paste-ups with T-squares and burning plates from negatives.
Settling in the Hazleton, PA area with her husband in 1988, Carol gained employement as a graphic designer for Eisers/Caldwell (Bradley Caldwell), wholesale distributors of equine, pet, lawn & garden and farming supplies. Traditional production techniques were still in practice to produce distributor catalogs and support materials. Luckily, with the emergence of desktop publishing, the life of a designer became easier. Aldus PageMaker and telecommunications made tight deadlines easier to achieve.
After 6 years at Eisers, Carol took a position as the national art director for Regency Thermographers, a national printing company and manufacturer of wedding invitations. Carol supervised a small design staff and designed full-color, direct mail catalogs for Regency's retail stationery and gift lines. Unfortunately, less than two years later, Regency was bought by Taylor Corporation. Soon after, Regency's design and marketing staff took permanent layoffs. The loss of this position was the incentive for Carol starting her home-based design business. The decision to become self-employed is a decision that Carol has never regretted!
Thirteen years and two beautiful sons later, the business is still going strong. The passion for design gets stronger everyday. A few years ago, a new passion developed... that of website development. Carol continues her education through online classes and hands-on seminars. Topics include html, Dreamweaver, Photoshop web graphics, Flash CS4 and Actionscript 3.0.
